Trips, Outings and Visitors

Swing at Whitstable Castle playground

To fulfil the Early Years Welfare Requirements we take the children on occasional trips and visits around the local area. We always do a full risk assessment of the trip before taking the children anywhere, we keep to the required adult:child ratios, have a mobile telephone, first aid kit and emergency numbers for any children we take. The groups of children will remain small and the trips would not be of a great distance.

Group activity days

Every year the children have an activity day during the summer term. Recently we have used the Whitstable Castle park and gardens as our outing.

We try to have as many visitors as possible to the playgroup. We link these into our themes and they bring the work we have been looking at to life. Examples are dentists, vets, local musicians. If a parent has a talent that we can use or an item to show the children we encourage them to come in. In previous years we have had parents bringing pets in, coming to talk about christening, playing musical instruments , doing yoga demonstrations and parents coming in to teach French.

children during a football coaching session

Every term, a local football coach joins us for a morning and takes small groups of children to practise ball skills. The children really enjoy this and many continue with Neil, the coach, at his local football sessions.
